After breakfast we leave Tirana from Avni Rustemi square to Pellumbas Cave at 9:00. The cave has a big
entrance and offers a lot to see. As we walk through this fascinating structure, it is incredible to see
some of the latest discoveries they have unearthed including evidence of cave bears (Ursus Speleaus)
that lived 10,000 to 400,000 years ago. They have found traces of human activity from the Middle
Paleolithic period, which spanned from 300,000 to 30,000 years ago. Just an hour away from Tirana,
You find yourself in a wonderful place. Near the village of Pellumbas, situated 650 meters above the
sea level, on the gorge of Skorana (Erzeni river), is located the carstic Black Cave (the Pigeons Cave) of
the Paleolithic period, which is 360 m long. There are only five caves of this kind in whole Europe. The
entrance of the cave has a beautiful position, and the visitors can enjoy the wonderfull view of Erzeni
river. If you are there, don’t miss the chance to walk down the river and enjoy the crystal blue waters
and the wonderful canyon of Erzeni. This excursion is a beautiful day trip in one of the most rural
landscapes that surround Tirana. We will enjoy lunch and then back to Tirana.
