Tirana is a good base: many of Albania’s best sights are within a few hours. These are the day trips we run most often.
Kruja
About 30 to 40 minutes north of Tirana. Visit the hilltop castle, the Skanderbeg Museum and the old bazaar. It is the easiest half-day trip and combines well with Durrës.
Durrës
Albania’s main port, roughly 40 minutes by road. See the Roman amphitheatre, the Venetian tower and the seafront promenade, and add a swim in summer.
Berat
A full-day trip of about two hours each way. Berat is the “city of a thousand windows”, known for its Ottoman houses and the castle quarter.
Shkodër
Around an hour and a half north, with Rozafa Castle and the lake. It combines well with the village of Razëm and the Shiroka lakeside.
Apollonia and Ardenica
Ancient Greek ruins and a hilltop monastery near Fier, a good choice for history lovers who want a quieter day.
Osumi Canyon
A natural canyon near Çorovodë for walking, rafting or kayaking in the right season, best from spring to early summer.
