What to Expect on Your Trip

Morning: Saranda City Center & The Vivari Channel

We kick the day off by meeting right in Saranda. Your local guide will take you on a quick morning walk through the vibrant city center to check out the local streets and landmarks.

From there, we jump in the vehicle and head south toward Butrint. The drive itself is a highlight. You’ll get sweeping views of the Vivari Channel and learn the history behind the 19th-century Ali Pasha military outpost, originally built to guard the strategic Corfu Strait.

Mid-Day: Exploring Ancient Butrint

Our main morning stop is Butrint National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This isn’t just a pile of old rocks; it’s one of the most well-preserved archaeological sites in the Balkans. You get an uninterrupted, panoramic view of the entire city of Saranda, the Ionian Sea, and even the island of Corfu in the distance. It’s the perfect spot to wrap up a full day of exploring.
